Buffalo Creek is located on the northwest end of Wellington, east of County Road 9 and north of County Road 64 (Washington Avenue). Construction in Buffalo Creek started in two thousand and three with most construction completed by two thousand and seven. Homes in Buffalo Creek are in the 1100 to 2700 livable square foot range. Shopping in Wellington is limited with Bella's Market being the main grocery store. Other shopping is in north Fort Collins at the Wilox and Highway 287 (College Avenue) with a King Sooper as well as Downtown Fort Collins. A short drive down interstate 25 to the Harmony Road interchange is the new Costco and Walmart and, two minutes west on Harmony, the new Front Range Village shopping complex with an array of shopping and dining establishments. Further to the south of the Harmony Road - interstate 25 interchange at the interstate 25 and Highway 34 interchange (Loveland exit) is the new Promenade at Centerra shopping complex, the Market Place at Centerra Mall and the new Medical Center of the Rockies. Recreational opportunities close to Wellington is the Soapstone Prairie Natural Area and Red Mountain Open Space to the north with the Poudre Canyon to the West. Schools are Eyestone Elementary, Wellington Middle School and Poudre High School.
